- Pass an authorized defensive driver program to become eligible
Geico is offering discounts to customers who pass an authorized defensive driver program. After going to the defensive driver discount webpage the customer will need to first select their driving state in the drop down box shown. Once the state is selected the customer will be redirected to a webpage showing the specific offers for the chosen state.
The type of programs and discounts appear to vary by state but for the purpose of this post let’s go ahead and check out the Idaho Defensive Driver Information page after selecting in the drop down box. Geico is offering a 10% discount on applicable coverage for drivers with polices rated in the state of Idaho after taking a defensive driver course. The course has to be offered by either the National Safety Council or The American Safety Council. A link to both councils is posted on the Idaho Defensive Driver Information page. There is a couple of benefits to be gained by completing one of these courses. The first benefit listed is a discounted price of $19.99 for Geico policyholders. The second benefit is convenient processing as all customers will need to do after completing the course is login to their policy and provide Geico with the date the course was completed and the policy will be updated to reflect the discount.
In the state of Idaho drivers may be eligible for this discount if they are over 50 years old. Drivers in Idaho may also be eligible for this discount if they have completed a defensive driving course meeting the standards approved by the National Safety Council. Unfortunately drivers that have been involved in an in-fault accident or have been found guilty of a traffic violation may not be eligible for this sweet discount.
For customers needing to reach out to Geico contact information can be found towards the top right of the Idaho Defensive Driver Information page.
