  1. LoL… I bought Outer Rim only because of the expansion. So, it didn't come too late for me!
I like Star Wars enough, but held off on buying Outer Rim due to all the reasons you mentioned in the 1st half of the video. It wasn't till the expansion was released that I finally had enough reason to buy the core game (with expansion of course).

  2. Good one but bit long on the setup and basically, it's just a well themed post and delivery. Nothing more and, after fews plays here at home, it certainly is a bit long to play for my personal tastes. And such a table eater in comparaison of what it really offers in terms of depths.

About The expansions, well if you guys like the base game, it adds some real nice and welcome adds.

Just like atomic bonds for fallout (wich I still prefer solo/coop wise)

    Cheers

  3. Thanks for the video! Do you think FF will ever release another expansion in the future or is the game probably complete by now?

I held off from getting outer rim. now i have both. im ready to start. will i need to play the base game first a couple of times to get the hang of it? or can i learn both rulebooks and jump straight in?

  5. I didn’t buy Outer Rim when it first came out but now that I’ve seen that the expansion has added some much needed content, I went ahead and bought both. Looking forward to trying it out this weekend. Thanks for the review and keep up the great work!

  6. Was hoping for more OG bounty hunters like 4-LOM, Zuckuss, or Greedo. But glad to see Dengar joining

  7. I just introduced my friends to the Outer Rim base game, and I just learned of the expansion pack. Thanks for the run down, I’ll definitely be picking this one up!

  8. Have this sitting and ready to play. Great overview – can’t wait to get it out!

  9. Where do you get that outer rim playmat

  10. Thanks for the review of the expansion, Luke. I am going to crack it open in the next couple of weeks.

  11. Xia vs Outer Rim, which one wins for you?

  12. Is this as good as firefly with all of it's expansions?

  13. I just played this expansion over the weekend for the first time. Really had a ton of fun with it even tho i didn't win. Played as Cad Bane (really challenging and fun character by the way!) and he was trying to become a Pirate Monarch with his ambition. Unfortunately he blew up a few too many rebel ships along the way and the on cal crusier sat itself right on top of the exact spot i needed to go to in order to complete my ambition and win the game. I was desperately looking for ways to move it by buying gear/jobs/cargo etc or trying to raise my rebel reputation. it didn't happen fast enough however and my brother got the win instead. Lesson learned: don't mess with the rebels lol!

  14. “This is not an essential expansion.I give it 9/10. This is the closest it’s going to get to 9/10”

    Ha! Ha! Makes no sense.

  15. love outer rim

  16. Awesome review! Thnx

  17. just opened mine and wow…it really does double nearly everything….well cards and characters at least lol.

  18. I got both boxes together for 65 EUR two weeks ago, which is a great price.
after one base game solo playthrough, I had a two-player and a three-player game with the expansion, while for the two-player game I added all content except for favors and ambitions and for the three-player game I also added favors.
after that experience, I would call the expansion essential. even with the double size decks we cycled through 2 of the market decks.

to me it's almost as essential as the first eldritch horror expansion and the prelude expansion for terraforming mars.
10 cards per double-planet-deck is okay but the market decks were much too thin.

  19. Awesome, I planned to get this anyways but it is great to hear your confirmation of its greatness! Still haven’t played the base game as much as I’d like so I can wait on it but it’s certainly on my to eventually buy list. I only wish the expansion included The Mandalorian and his Razor Crest, and maybe Grogu as well 🙂

  20. Well you sold me.

  21. Great timing, I have literally just listed our copy of Outer Rim for sale. It has been sat on our shelf of opportunity for nearly a year and I had great expectations. So much so that I was willing to buy the expansion before even playing the game, never a good strategy.
However, after playing it yesterday I have to say the game fell flat. For me it lacked depth and I found that many of the elements of the game could easily be ignored in the pursuit of gaining 10 fame. I hardly ever interacted with patrols, only doing so because my ship goal commanded it.
Hunting down your quarry to satisfy your bounty quests became a chore and failing skill tests had little or no consequence. "Roll skill to add this character as crew, if fail just buy them for $2000!". The stack of encounter cards were fine, but didn't really pose much of a challenge.
So, after just one and a half games (yep, I couldn't sit through another whole game) we packed it up and put it on the for sale pile.
Would the expansion change my mind? Not in the least. I think the "wormhole" mechanic allowing you to jump from end of the rim to the other is an awful idea and totally unthematic in a Star Wars universe. It takes away the one redeeming quality of the game which is working out your strategy. Deciding on what jobs to take, which cargo to deliver and planning out your route to the best effect. By putting in this 'bypass' basically does away with that if you know you can just jump the big gap from one end to the other.

Sleeving the cards before doing your review video was a little misleading making the piles of cards look bigger than they actually where, but, your overall review was, in my view, correct. If you aren't a fan of the game, you aren't going to become one by buying the expansion. Money saved for another game, possibly.

  22. Outer Rim blew it the first time with me. Played it until it started getting very stale. I sold it and do not plan to get it back. Glad the expansion is good.

  23. The silicon muffin cups are brilliant! Just ordered a dozen. Cheers.

  24. Base game looks awesome. First time I heard about it was from your channel.

  25. Fizzgig*. 🙂

  26. Yeah, this was the most overdue expansion of all time. I got my copy… psyched to get it played! 🙂

Summer time haircut and THE shirt!

  28. Do you think the game is worth it for solo only (with or without the expansion)?
