    I recall when Air India was banned from flying to Australia over safety concerns. They fly here now, but only to Sydney and Melbourne. Not Perth or anywhere else, I think.

    Air India’s problems are never in the airplane when it is airborne. The entire problem is at the ground level. The staff appear to be ill-trained and lack motivation. The help desk is not helpful at all. They do not read your complaints and keep giving standard scripted replies. They operate in silos. They push you around from one department to another and never have the motivation, will or the empowerment to resolve anything. This is what happens when you are used to a guaranteed salary and a iron rice bowl funded by taxpayer’s largesse.

    TATA has taken over but I am sure TATAs have a nearly impossible task cut out for them. After TATA take over things have yet to change. It is the honeymoon period and they can stay foolish and feign ignorance even as they work to fix things.

    Recently I had the unfortunate misfortune of booking Pune Delhi, Leh round trip for 3 senior citizens availing senior citizen concession. The system threw an error stating “Error A pricing error has occurred for your flight selection”. When this happened more than 4 times, I had to give up senior citizen concession booking and go for normal booking and the booking went through smoothly. I get the feeling that TATAs have a need to financially turn around the company however the method adopted for it seems to be crooked and downright dishonest. This is not expected of a company that has decent market reputation for probity and honesty. It may even be a genuine technical glitch however their helpdesk lacks the honesty to accept the error and offer recompense. Instead, they push you around from contactus@airindia.in to flyingreturn.base@airindia.in to “suggestions link”. They have even suggested that I cancel the ticket and try booking again.

    One good thing about Air India is they are consistent. Their service culture at ground level is consistently bad. All the help desk folks give you bullshit answers. If you do a simple search in internet you will learn about harrowing tales of consistently bad customer service. If you want a good example for bad customer service never look beyond Air India. If you can do avoid Air India till Chandrashekar gets the act together.

  8. Business Classes are Rarely Bad. The seating has to be horrible and uncomfortable , and food has to be so terrible to the point that it is inedible, and poor service as a terrible bonus. I have seen some of the “Bad” Business Class vids, honestly they don’t look that bad

  9. ask anyone at Canadas Pearson international. Hands down Endia airlines will keep being the worst airline they have dealt with. They have cockroach sprays in the cargo hold

  11. I think to introduce the Y class service is more useful than C & 1st class, because pax for Y class is the majority in one flight.

  12. I flew air India from Sydney to Delhi, I found that the crew was great and so was the plane. I flew on Dreamliner economy and everything was very smooth. Loved it

    The only thing bad about Air India (including the former Indian Airlines) is the number of crashes they've had over the years. Something to do with corruption and poor maintenance as they are a government airline.

    Air India’s ground staff are in deference and careless, don’t want to work. Website is abominable, ‘ask Maharaja ‘ is riddled with circular questions, can not get any answers.. It is impossible to get in touch with Vistara staff also, to buy a ticket from London.
    Best of luck to Tatas, hope things will improve. Only change in the staff’s attitude will bring an enormous change. That doesn’t cost anything.
    In Air India in flight service is excellent.

  21. Hi Josh, It was great to see this video as I have flown Air India Business a few times now on long haul flights. The trip was fantastic and the crew were fantastic…. I could not fault anything…. It was one of the best Business experiences I have had….. I love the craziness of Indian airports….. they just run on chaos, but it's a brilliant experience….I would fly Air India any day….. Have you reviewed Vistara? I have had great economy flights internally in India and the business class is very cheap. They are owned by Singapore Airlines and you can definitely feel the Singapore influence wth the service.

  23. Most US airlines offer an Indian meal option on international flights, but they don't call it that. You need to order the "Asian Vegetarian" meal.

  26. When you fly domestic in business class they tend to serve you well. It's nice to see you had a good experience flying with Air India 👍
