why not just…cut down the trees and bushes….
James Drynan –
It is senseless to watch this teen angst series since there is no season 2 and everything is left unanswered in the final episode of the first ( and only ) season. Waste of time.
boophoop –
this show is literally the same plot of the book "Gone" except without superpowers and people disappearing when they turn 14
EXO NCT TBZ TXT ENHYPEN –
My sisters and I are still mad this was cancelled. I like when teenagers are in charge and there’s no adults! Ugggggh
My Autobiography A Fanfic –
You can't "redemption arc" a psychopath. You shouldn't really "redemption arc" anyone cause it's boring.
Ernie Berd –
Yellowjackets did it better
D Tre –
Basically they are in a different universe and they don’t know what happened to them because they never returned. The bus driver was supposed to remove the smell but he got into an arguement with Harry’s mom (pretty sure his mom is the principal) and he got revenge by taking the kids somewhere. So at the end, they are remembering the lost teenagers who never came back. The show got cancelled and it’s my favorite show.
D Tre –
Show got cancelled. I really wanted another part
Alice Ma –
The show needs a season2, also you kind of shallowed down all the characters…in reality they are much better.
Revy_TwoHands –
Honestly if they didn't cancel it and actually gave us another season or 2 or so I feel like this video would be about how good the show actually is (mind you they did only start to continue the story line of what the fuck happend and how they got there in around the last 2 episode's) but still I fucking loved it
Pauline Mickaela Guiao –
The plot of The Society is based on "The Pied Piper of Hamelin". A cast member confirmed it in an interview. Don't take this negatively, but "research before you react".

bro a psychopath won't suddenly be a good person just because they moved into a parrarel universe. what they do with campbell story is exactly what psychopath would do in that situation. they wanna control everyone just for fun
OgCipher –
I mean if someone's a psycopath there's no "redemption arc" that's not like "being an asshole"
𝔽𝕌𝕂𝕌ℝ𝕆𝕌 –
I know it has been 2 years and I don't know if there are French people here but this plot reminds me a lot of "Seuls" plot (basically, chils/teens getting stuck in ''another dimension'' even tho we don't know how they got here)
Etoile2004 –
this show was a hot ass mess lmao the fact that people actually like it is mind blowing

You should check out Between w Jeanette McCurdy. It's a lot like this but there's some defining features like everyone over the age of 21 dies and then the town is quarantined and there's a lot more to unpack. Also I think there's three seasons too!
MetroHazzard –
What happened to the bus drivers?
Nina Baby –
I think they died on the bus and are in a purgatory.. but that girl giving birth kinda throws that theory off
Josh Washington –
How to figure out you're not intelligent:
You didn't catch on within episode 1 that the parents made deals with the devil to have power within their town; Hence the name "West (s)ham" writen on the signs, the side of the church having a spiritual bible verse that dictates that the people had made ultimate sins, and how the brothers (Sam & Campbell) had both paid the price of their parents — Sam by hearing loss and Campbell by his soul. Oh, I forgot to mention Becca, who's father was clearly a demon or a possesses person — Hence the random 'still birth' scene, and why she doesn't want to talk about who the father is, despite it not being anyone in that town.
Oh, I'm forgetting other key details.
The bus driver was the devil, who was also Campbell. The old wives tale of "The devil pulls the strings" is important; That's Campbell's entire role for the series, to pull the strings. He couldn't hurt anyone of the main protagonists directly, so he had others do it for him. Meanwhile, he abused the only person who wasn't born in that town; Elle. The last episodes, they find an open field and the only thing in that open field was turkey's. A good call to the real world, where Turkey, the actual location, is the area for the "Gateway to hell".
And the children aren't dead, nor were they driven directly to their death; No parent directly harmed their children. The children were the prices the adults paid to keep their bargain. The adults were all okay with that, queue last scene. Moreover, the fun part of all of this: They were driven into a Hell universe. Consider how "Lucifer" does this for an example; This was a Jewish ideology of heaven/hell, where it is created from your memories.
Finally to the next and last part. The show gave numerous symbolisms and discussions about these being within there, to the point where it was clearly obvious.
Now for your critique; You have barely any understanding of 'people', which I get that — You did the same thing to nearly every 'good' show; You pick apart character flaws that are designed to be vague and elusive for the note of them not displaying information would actually give the audience "too much" information. Clearly they have minimal personalities…they need to keep most of these hidden since the show relies heavily on the note of removing their "old" personalities to adopt new ones; Old ones still surface and when they surface, it's suppose to give the audience clues as to how they got there. If this wasn't obvious; You learn:
– Most of their parents were lawyers or figures in local Government
– Everyone's parents, except for Elle's, have lived in that town since the children were born
– Certain peoples personalities revolve around "Money and power" whilst others revolve around "Following orders"
– The only character with a direct personality through the entire season is Campbell, whom is suppose to have one — He's suppose to be portrayed as 'evil'; He clearly is 'the devil' in the figurative scenario, whereupon he 'pulls the strings' and 'nudges the shoulder' of everyone to do his particular bidding
– Sam's personality is merely a trope; "Being gay". Except you realize his characters personality was hidden until the last couple episodes, where the purpose of him being there wasn't to have that gender status character, but to give the background of Campbell, someone who is mentally a 'psychopath' in his eyes, yet also note that they weren't "always that way", that he became deaf as a child, around the time Campbell started acting out. Sam noted he could remember what 'his own voice sounds like'.
– Campbell knows exactly why they're there, and he doesn't want to be caught in-case people recognize that his purpose there is to torture and get them to kill each other
– The 'dog' was clearly a 'hell hound" trope
– Most of this season, in one way or another, ties back to "The crossroads" ideology; Making a deal with the devil in exchange for whatever the wish desires; The price to pay depends upon the weight of the transaction.
Finally the biggest clue you must have forgot.
The smell in the town "Randomly appeared". Then it went away. And then it came back again.
Think about what 'smells' could be cleaned in a town that isn't actually "toxic" to the citizens? Figure it out yet? Sulfur. The Town smelled like Sulfur because the deals that were made. Tying straight back to "West (s)ham", a town that's a sham, because those who have the tower took it by making a deal with the devil at a crossroads.
The children were the price they had to pay, and the parents did not care, as long as they got their power, their wealth, and their names recognized; As you saw in the last clip.
Think about the symbolism of Peter Pan. Eternal Youth due to "neverland". Look at it abstract and tie the scenario into the ideology of Crossroads.
Next comment will be a review upon why you say "doesn't make any sense".

Am I the only one who is very confident on the fact that they are all dead? It's obvious they probably died from a bus crash or something.
Henrik Fagerholt –
I wonder where the bus drivers went

so sad that netflix canceled this show
Pink Giraffe –
I kinda like how the show's about the teens trying to form a society and survive tbh. I mean it is literally the title of the show.
Pink Giraffe –
I haven't seen this show, but grizz and kelly seem like the best characters imo. 🥰😂😌✨

the real funny thing is it was cancelled so that was it XD

This isn’t my generation, I’m a bit older but thought it was a very good show. Here is the reason it was canceled… started out as a free for all then it went into forming a society like the title. It tried to go the socialism route but quickly showed that didn’t work as the leaders had to be tougher than they wanted and suggested people live right and pull their own weight. Last thing the youth need is a show promoting rules, morals, and a work ethic. Therefore canceled. Not some Covid BS.
Anushri Bhatt –
I completely agree with the title.
Thato Nkgau –
True the society does have a lot of potential and interesting themes but the show really doesn't do anything with it. The whole alternate dimension theory /concept is kind of interesting and it would've been cool for the show dive into and explain it. And it would've been great for the show to try to give some the characters some extra depth like Campbell right out the back they tell us he's the bad guy and he just is the bad guy he's not a misunderstood guy with a few issues but a heart of gold he's just evil,i would've loved to see him go on a redemption arc.

I really don’t think Dewey killed Cassandra and he admitted to it a couple times out of anger and just saying what they wanted him to say. Someone could have easily planted that gun in his room and Harry literally was on drugs so he could have hallucinated him saying he killed her. Idk it just feels wrong. And he died for it and could have been innocent.
Void_Luizz –
baah, they cancelled it
REY –
i sont think finding out the answer to why they're where they are is the premise of the show. it's titled the society so the main thing to focus on should.be the kids and how they become civil with their own leadership, rules, etc.

Show literally died with Cassandra… after ep 3 it was not good at all and Allie couldn’t carry the show for me
