Intel got out ahead of AMD’s newest Ryzen CPU launch with the Core i9-12900KS – Was it enough to take the fight out of AMD’s 3D V-Cache Ryzen 7 5800X3D, or is it still the world’s fastest gaming CPU?

So it's NOT the fastest….and uses an outdated platform. Got it.

to come to the conclusion, with 6 tested games, that the 5800X3D is beaten up by the i9 12900KS is just poor reviewing

a decent sendoff for an impressive platform. i'm excited to see what am5 brings, but will likely upgrade to an am4 system (depending on pricing and how well first gen release goes)

Intel sometimes matches the 5800x3d in games at almost double the price at about 250 watts to the 5800x3d' 100 watts 😂😂😂

why haven't you tested the cpu even in 4k? intel works better than amd in 4k

2% is not "dominated" also what, $500 of ram? think you could mentioned the PLATFORM price difference in the value calculations because the real cost difference between the two setups is a lot more than the price of the CPU would lead you to believe.

I understand why LTT uses 1080p gaming to test CPU performance, but if you're spending over $500 on a CPU, it's quite safe to assume that individual is gaming in at least 1440p.

The 12900KS needed DDR5 to keep up with the 5800X3D… additional cost

the only thing thats fucking annoying about AMD is their idle power usage. its at around 40-60w while the 12900ks overclocked uses 25-30w.

I don't understand, why did they do this for Ryzen 7 but not the Ryzen 9 series?

If you tested more games like hardware unboxed you would see the 5800x3d is faster overall it may not be by much but its a win.

I normally fully agree with Anthony. In his point of a 12700K being a better value, I disagree. You said you paired the Intel with your fastest DDR5. That exponentially raises the cost for minor improvements on the work side.

AMD releases a CPU for a 5 year old platform using DDR4 that is on par with Intel's latest and greatest. I can now dust off my 2700x rig and drop in a 5800XD3 cpu and I'm getting higher FPS gaming than with my delidded OC'ed 8700K. AMD is the bomb. Intel sucks as far as they treat the consumers wallet.

this review was biased af ngl ive seen this new cpu do way better let ltt not be your only reference and you ll see what im talking about so take their review with a grain of salt … i will say tho productivity is spot on but yet again amd never claimed 5800x3d to shine on this so it was never a surprise

Btw, the 5800X3D does overclock from early results and 3% more should be achievable but why bother. Its a perfect combination of power efficiency and speed.
