    Of all the odd things in this movie, I can’t wrap my head around Mrs carlyl. I thought you had to be beautiful, charming and wealthy to be a member of “society”. How did this hair eating freak make the club? How could she have gotten rich, or possibly married into money as she is? Also, when shauna was spying and Mrs carlyl walks in on her daughter, do we assume she has a handful of shaunas hair? And Shauna doesn’t mention his new girlfriends mom ripped out half her hair when she confronts him? I’m so confused.

    Living in Europe (England…………… sort of in Europe) I agree with Brian Yunza.

    I love this film and the ideas that it put's forward.

    It's not a dumb horror movie, it's a bit more sophisticated in my opinion.

    It doesn't take itself seriously and it's got plenty of clichés, but the thought of a secret society hiding in the shadows and ruling the world although very unlikely does make me wonder about who's in control.

    I'm no socialist, but lets be honest the mega rich are leeches feeding off the 99.9% of us at the bottom of the pond. Although they don't morph into a mass of blubber as in the movie, their behavior certainly is no better.

    This is one of the best 80's films, and I really can't understand why it flopped in the US.

    By the way, I wonder what happened after they got away from the party at the end?

    O but i have i have my 100 buck arrow video boxset ed of this gooey life sucking metamorphic mutant masterpiece from brian yuzna amazing work from them all and always solid beautiful makeup and special effects from master screaming mad george…youl never get away with this…dont count on it(WHAMM) Butthead…o the rich get richer 2 classes of humanity society class A and us there food Class B there also in a way slugs esp when you see the uplclose shot of one as mom pappy and the gardner admiring it and at the end when billy wins and turns homboi inside out they have no bones and are filled with slugs

    Recall this movie in horror sections of video stores as the weirdest for 1989. Last saw an original DVD for $12 in 2003 but saw a few VHS for sale used in flea markets. Yuzna tries to this day to forward a sequel, but a comic exists on compensation.

    Screaming Mad George is a demented genius.
    Where his real talent comes out is designing insects in such film's as
    Nightmare on Elm St 4 (The Roach Motel Sequence),Silent Night Deadly Night 5 w/ Clint Howard and of course The Guyver aka (Mutronics) designing the insect Zonids .
    The man is prolific at what he does!
    And Society what a Ass backwards film (pun intended) but quite disgusting and I loved it and its undertone satire.
