I've got a similar story… I've always been pretty artistic and creative, and I used to say I'd become an architect,, but I'm not really passionate about… And in case of science related stuff, , that isn't my cup of tea.. So now I'm looking towards graphic designing, but I'm still a little worried about the pay and the scope… I've got two years to finalize it,.. Thanks a lot for the video

i initially was going to a university for forensic chemistry but at the last minute, i applied for a community college for business. i felt like i didn't like it as much, like it was a chore. i really wanted to do art but i still wanted to work in a business so i decided on graphic design. i haven't switched yet, but listening to this, im becoming more confident in my choice.
Justin Pauser –
Wow thank you for this! Started with the idea of architecture and then went to thinking about business before finally coming to graphic design.

I'm 17 and I'm scared to major in art. I really want to because I want to make comic strips or things for entertainment to make people happy. I am from an abusive family and things like gravity falls and Undertale made me insanely happy as a kid. But, I have barely any money and have been isolated my whole life and I don't know how the world works.

I’ve known that I wanted a job in visual arts for three years now, and now that I’m a sophomore in high school, I feel like it’s time I start thinking about what specifically I want to do. I struggle with the thought that I’m not improving fast enough, or that I’ll be wasting my time and money doing this.
This is my dream, I want to create things that will inspire people. And I just don’t want to lose that dream. I know I’m talented, but sometimes it feels like it’s not enough.

Hello, I would like to ask a question here. Which one is better, going to community college for 2 years first and then, transfer to university for the rest 2 years or going directly to the 4- year- university?

Hi, I was about to start listening to music to start studying, but then I came across the thumbnail of your video. And I feel like this was necessary for me. It was a good reminder and motivation for me to keep on moving forward. Sometimes we tend to forget what we are going for in life career-wise that sometimes we need this type of reminder. I really thank you for this. I am an art major with a minor in marketing and it has been a long time since I've studied because I took a break due to covid. So because of this, I forgot what I was studying for. Everyone has weaknesses and struggles. Mine is to fluently communicate with people. I have the tendency to not communicate effectively to a person or a big audience, but I know that I have to practice more to become better at it. Nothing is easy in this life. Doing hard work will eventually pay off. Once again, thanks for the good message. Also, I just subscribed :D. Keep up the good videos!

I came here after the 5th emotional breakdown I've had this year (alone) because of my major. I'm just so miserable. when you said you even majored in accounting I was like "HELLO???" BC I'M MAJORING IN ACCOUNTING RN AND LIFE IS SO EMPTY HAHAHA
no but seriously thank you for this video. I've always been so lost. growing up while being passionate about art, I've always heard people in my life telling me to "be practical" and "focus on getting a real job," which, yes of course I want to be practical, but I also don't want to spend my entire professional career feeling like a cold, empty shell of a human. idk. your words are very encouraging and I feel like I can wholeheartedly make the decision to switch my major without regretting it later in life. it's so scary out here fr I hate being an adult lmao

Great video. I'm nearing the end of my Multimedia study and sure, I'm kinda worried about not landing a job/getting enough commission work to pay the rent. But I also know that I followed my passion and did my best to get to where I am. I did it exactly because of what you said: I want to have fun working, not throw away all that time doing something I despise. So I'm going to go through with it and make it work.

I don't even like numbers too😒 and I've been struggling to tell my family about it, actually I do tell them like most of my days that I don't want to be am Architect but they always keep telling me to pursue it😔 but It's trying to pressure me from all the math and numbers…I was more passionate to freedom to draw what I wanted not in systemic way…but here I am, 1st year Architecture student and I don't like this but I' too scared to tell my family about it again…😔
MIGHTY GEEK STUDIOS –
As a comic book/graphic artist I find that the elements in different styles of art can be very useful creatively. Take a look at a comic book or a take out menu for ideas on page design and layout you will find the elements to simple and engaging at the same time

I don't know why my teacher messaged me to make him a profile picture for his fb page until making ads for his his page and etc. Suddenly I saw your channel, and I can say your such a blessing in disguise Dena. You're filling up my spirit to pursue graphic designing. Thank you so much. ❤✨

I just came across your channel and I’m really happy I did. I just want to say thank you for opening up about this. I feel like I’ve been drowning in my thoughts lately. When I graduated high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do and when people asked me, I always said business to get people off my back. Business runs in my family and my sister graduated with international business. I always feel like I have to live up to certain expectations which is exhausting. I’m getting my associates next year and as of right now, I’ve been working towards marketing. I keep going back and forth between marketing and graphic design. I honestly don’t know if I’ll like marketing and that scares me. I would consider myself a creative person, but always steered away from pursuing art as a career because I’ve always been told it’s unstable. This video you made though gave me hope that I can follow what I really am passionate about so thank you again.

I've been struggling all my life with what I want to be, with who I am. Only now, at 23 years old and applying for college, that I've realized what I wanted all along which is Multimedia arts but everyone around kept telling me it wasn't good for my future, that I would fall in unemployment, at the time in high school I was too shy and too afraid to express myself so I went to the study they wanted me in. But now I finally decided that's what I want to do and nothing and no one will stop me because, and I love this quote, "I prefer getting shit for what I love than for what I hate". ❤️❤️
Catarina Mangel –
I hate when people say art doesn't take you anywhere, you will be unemployed, there's no future in it or the one I hate the most: "arts are for dummies/dumb people" Oh my God how I hate when people say that, if arts didn't exist there would be no Hollywood, there would be no music, no photography, no colors even. Everything would just be more dull. Think about it
JP Draws –
I really like drawing and digital drawing but I have a certification in graphic imaging. I graduate next month. My parents want me to go to college and get a career but I still have no idea what I want to do. Art is the only thing I’m “good” at but I feel like I’m not creative enough. I feel really stressed right now.
Ellona –
In my last semester of Graphic Design. It has not been easy. Sometimes it makes me wonder why I took it, I just had no idea what I wanted to do. Lol but no regrets I learned a lot! But I'm ready to change my major
nestor montano –
I really needed to hear this. Thinking about what major to choose. I really appreciate this video. Thank you.
Lost InSpace –
Your video popped up in the best timing. I just realized that I wasn’t happy taking classes in the STEM majors and the only one I’m interested in was psychology. But even that, I couldn’t see myself doing anything with that degree. I’ve always liked the arts but I was too scared to pursue it and thought if a degree in arts is even worth it. I’ve come to realize exactly what you said, if I’m going to work for the rest of my life, I might as well work in something I enjoy. Your point about college being the foundation for experiences and discovery about ourselves also really struck me. I struggled whether I should learn by myself or get a degree but I definitely can learn to grow and understand myself better if I take classes in an environment where it is encouraged to explore what you like. Thank you for speaking your mind and sharing this video with us!

I needed this video since I’ve been doing art since forever as well, I’m currently a high school junior and what my mom says is that I should major in something else. Honestly, I told her I wanted to major in criminology yet I know art simply something I’ve always wanted. Over the years, I haven’t been doing much art due to lack of motivation and whenever I draw I simply don’t feel like I’m expressing myself at all. I’m not sure how to explain it, but to put it in short words it’s like an art block that’s been going on for 2 yrs now. Any advice you could give when it comes to improving and finding the rhythm again?

Dena! I didn’t know you wanted to do interior design! I did that one year lol got too expensive so I had to come back home and now I’m a multidisciplinary studies student going for business related minors, always wanted my own clothing business so I guess it worked out. I was an art major for a semester with the intention of moving back and doing graphic design. Can’t wait to see your channel blow up! Always knew you were meant for the arts and I relate with what you said lol
