Grainne McMorrow – Alumni Award Winner 2019 for Law, Public Policy and Government reviews
Grainne is Senior Counsel, Adjunct Professor of Law and one of two Irish Representatives on the prestigious Council of Europe Venice Commission for the Protection of Democracy through Law.
She graduated from NUI Galway in 1980/1983 with a BA LLB and was the President of the Students’ Union in 1978/9.
Her other achievements include chairing the Commission of Investigation in to the Death of Gary Douch in Mountjoy Prison; acting as a Mental Health Act Commissioner –an Inspector of Broadmoor Hospital UK; contributing drafter of UK Mental Health Legislation; Chair of Mental Health Review Tribunals in Ireland
