The state of unemployment in Kenya is so pathetic that many employers are taking advantage and offering a salary of Ksh 20k for an engineering graduate. In fact most employers would rather employ diploma guys coz they can do the job at a much cheaper rate. If offered 20k a graduate just accepts coz there are like 70 other guys who are looking for that job. Ukiringa ni shida yako! Let me remind you at that pay you are just working for the landlord and matatu owners hardly anything left to send to your folks back in the village who are expecting something from you. Depression is real!

This guy can study in the USA so easily, apply for actuarial science masters course and tell the school that admits you that you need sponsorship from the university.. I know they'll take you quick. This is because actuarial science is rarely done by people in states, and the demand is high.

  16. It all boils down to corruption though doesn't it? Tribalism and nepotism rule most work places in Kenya this is why we have so many incompetent people running down our country while the best minds are left to scrape the bottom of the pile.

  17. We need to have a flexible and vibrant mind to survive on this earth especially in Kenya. I graduated with a First Class Honours in Education (Arts) and I'm yet to get a job. I've applied for more than 50 job opportunities and out of these, I have attended 7 interviews but missed due to inadequate requisite experience. Yet I find a means to survive and so I move around to do things that can give me a means in a just way. Young people should try their best to protect this life. sometimes we tend to be selective in job-search. I'm sorry for Kevin Ochieng' and what he has gone through. I pray that I will be able to share how positive we should be after education. University education should prepare the youths for service and life-long learning. We should be positive and focus on our future.

  18. Huyu Kangata anaongea kinyezi.

  19. Alot of old people clinging to jobs & ghost workers has majorly caused lack of opportunities, simple! What can you work on now that had happened.. solutions that should have taken place are not going to be helpful for him now

  21. This is so sad..there are many Kevin's out there..our government should strategise a way to have many job opportunities for all graduates not just first class honors..also the media should focus on presenting stories of such that face youths!!
