  1. I want my 'dog mode' in every EV! Why hasn't anyone besides Tesla been offering it?! Is it patented, can it be patented? It's a safety feature, so needs to come with all EVs!

  2. It's March 2023, and Volkswagen STILL has not solved the software issues. When I started my ID3 lease [identical software] two years ago we were promised OTA updates. The car has gone back to the service dealer twice to have two major software updates and I have received three OTAs at home. Nothing of which have really solved any big issues. The Voice Control is still pretty much awful. The Lane Assist will kill you if you trust it. And other more minor issues. Compatibility with Android/Apple softens the blow, but one really shouldn't be resorting to smartphone software to solve the problem. All of which is a shame, because the ID Series are nice cars. So VW, SORT THAT SOFTWARE.

  3. Does it get adaptive cruise, blind spot monitoring n lane assist?

  4. Great review, really nice car. Shame they put the steering wheel on the wrong side.

Thank you for the review and the laughs 🤣😂 I like the look of the VW ID.4 better, but I think the Hyundai IONIQ 5 will be a better but for me.

  6. Really enjoy your reviews Rory this is my 2nd time watching this one.
1st time round I dismissed the car based on the technical issues with infotainment but considering it now after reviewing the running costs of other EV especially insurance groups.
The ID4 is probably the cheapest to ensure of similar size EVs.

  7. Electric cars hate motorway driving, deteriorates the battery quicker and range goes down massively. Had electric cars when I commuted 60-70 miles a day and got an electric company car

  8. Drum brakes🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮. More complicated than discs. Pointless cash grab.

  9. Simplify the name to ID4. Just drop the dot.

  10. 2:43 This rubs me the wrong way. Otherwise, the car seem very attractive, although the way it move look quite boring sometimes.

  11. I watch the engineering guys videos on Youtube that tore this car apart and he said the suspension was a dinosaur design. And the local VW service manager in my city revealed these cars keep being returned for full battery replacements. So I don't think VW has worked out the kinks/hiccups in their design. But from a design standpoint this car is totally ugly. I would put my money in ANY other battery car. It's an ugly blob.

  12. It wouldn't be a "review" if you wouldn't be constantly complaining about completely trivial details, now would it?

  13. cool car but that capacitive UI is absolutely trash. GIVE US BUTTONS, VW!

  14. No thanks. Insipid in and out. Rory was truly bored.

  15. it's the worst EV ever , very baaad service , very bad car , the battery is like a Shit , you'r not gonna enjoy your time in this car , you will keep looking at the battery rate , and that's really stressful , the whooole system is very stupid to many E problems , i bought it ,then finally i sold it after 4 months . DON'T BUY THIS SHIT .
My neighbors, they ignored my words, bought it and now their car has been in the company for a month to be fixed, they are very angry and remorseful.

    DON'T BUY THIS SHIT .

  16. Who is the dealer in UAE

  17. I don't get why all electric cars are now trying to look very futuristic and distinguishable from gas cars. I don't care. This kind of approach Volkswagen is taking with the ID4 is right up my alley.

  18. where is the spare wheel?

  19. Not sure which Tesla model Y you saw at 40k

  20. Roy, i am sold on id-4:-)

  21. Absolutely awful car by VW

  22. fantastic review! Really insightful!

  23. Over exaggeration on space in the rear seats! Looks squashed

  24. Rory a button in the tail gate is no good for people in a wheel chair as they can’t reach it lol
No disc brakes on the rear and their excuse is utterly laughable I completely agree being a 22 year mechanic 👨‍🔧 have they not seen the way us ev drivers drive flat out brake flat out brake “well only cost me £14 to fill up.
That id looks really cheaply made materials etc the rear seats not folding down flat. I can’t see how its 40k of car

  25. Background music, please comment from where?

  26. Sadly not officially available in UAE yet maybe 3 or 4 years in future.

  27. £40,000 in UK or €48,000 in Ireland.
    Love Ireland.

  28. 😂 if you can reach the boot shut button whilst sat in a wheelchair then you must be 7ft tall

    Already Tired of it
    Not going to save VW

  30. What an absolute tosh on the drum brakes. It's a £40k car not an £8k Dacia, should not be specced like one either…

  31. The brakes are true, as a Toyota mechanic I’ve replaced countless Prius front rotors cause they rust out from lack of use. In a humid climate with city driving, they don’t get used enough.

  32. Needs more power .

  33. The ID4, which uses low-quality Chinese batteries, has very poor battery efficiency. Not recommended.

  34. It's a lovely car. It's too expensive for a normal middleclass worker.
