Rory hops aboard the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance, and this one is a little different. The car trades the twin-turbo V8 in the previous model for a 2-litre four cylinder engine and an electric motor. It makes big power; 680hp to be precise. But is it as good as the previous car?

I get most of us are mad about the V8 scrap but how many of us were going to buy the old one in the first place with how expensive everything is right now. We should appreciate what the companies are trying to come up with to get around these new emission rules. But im thinking they could have at least gone with a V6 with a hybrid add on and that could have softened the blow more.

Love the new four cylinder engine, the car mod group have been doing this for ages on these engines, my favourite is estate hopefully they got a better battery and motor in the future models. But amazing looking car
It's sad to see everything go to $hit! I want no part of any of this! They are missing the point of what the Goddam* AMG stands for!!!! Utterly embarrassing!
So its basically 480bhp. As the motor that boosts the extra 200bhp only does it in 10second bursts….
And fake engine notes played inside and outside the car….. what a joke.

Pushing 680 HP on a 4 Cyclinder? There's no way the engine can handle that, it'll probably blow up at 30,000 miles.

Mercedes is going downhill. There hasn't been a single model since 2022 that I liked. A boring, doll, not even confort Mercedes-Amg is terrible. Rather have an Audi now or learn to love the new BMW grill.

I absolutely hate these disposable cars. I cannot wait for this phase to pass. Absolutely horrific
🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 r.i.p amg it was a legendary run u had, but gone too soon. If u can throw the battery in the garbage with the engine and swap a old amg v8 then its fine, u can bring amg back to life. Sad thing is this car looks incredibly sexy and has a interior from a s class but it shits itself, needs alot of work to become a real car, u can probably sell the battery and engine and swap a amg v8 in and still have money left over

Heavy and somewhat sluggish, soulless, overly complicated drivetrain, wonky gearbox, more expensive. RIP C63.

the bmw m3 is better in every aspect at this point, the potential of the s58 is unmatched in any car right now, the suspension is better, the diff is better the handling is better, it is only .2 slower with almost 200 hp less. i cant wonder how hard it is to tune these things
Mercedes bit the bullet and put out the performance hybrid engine hates- before the competition is forced to follow suit. Enjoy your big blocks while you can guys
I don't care that it's faster 0-60. The sound and the feel of the V8 is irreplaceable.
What's the point? They have ruined it
It just isn't the same, sounds like a golf and the performance just isn't there because the hybrid system isn't always on especially at high speed so you effectively get less no matter how much HP it theoretically makes. As he says himself the main strength is it accelerates fast out of corners which basically translates to it making lots of power with the electric motor at lower speeds but the underpowered engine not making high speeds fun.

💩💩💩…one of the reasons that some people prefered old c63 v8 over m3/4 was a v8 sound…now c63 is over imo

I have never driven or been in any single C63 gen. But seeing one and hearing one roar by is enough to make me smile. With this, just watching it on YouTube hurts me, because that emotion is gone. Mercedes panicked here, they certainly did, they killed what truly was their identity & with that being said, they will have lost a lot of fans, die hard fans. The V8 should have never went.
With all due respect, there is no such thing as "fake sound". Fake engine noise maybe, but sound is sound.
The reason anyone buys a C63 is the one most important metric, and it seems they completely disregarded it, but maybe it will appeal to audi RS or bmw M fans
Wait until this new hybrid power train needs repairs out of warranty it will be cheaper to throw the engine away and put a V8 in it plus it sounds like a Subaru WRXs fart thankfully you can bypass it and go to the E or S for the V8 it's now the AMG poverty model.
