This is the Genesis GV80, a large, luxury SUV from the upmarket brand owned by Hyundai. Beneath the bold, ‘in your face’ exterior design, the GV80 has an array of luxury features, a vast boot, top-notch technology and a choice of two powerful engines. But with established rivals like the BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Mercedes GLE all offering more sophisticated plug-in hybrid powertrains, is the GV80 good enough as an all-round package? Nicola puts it to the test to find out.

  1. Why doesn't the UK get the 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 like the rest of Europe and other markets like North America and Australia do?

  2. I'm not sure why anyone's complaining about the reverse rev counter , I'm sure it's comes as an automatic and if your one for changing gears you should be able to do it by the feel and sound of the engine.

  3. Q7 lol never and bmw too overprice

Hyundai & Kia is the game changer in the car industry.

  5. No 3.5l petrol & using Hyundai service/repair dealerships means I'm out. My top-of-the-line Santa Fe developed faults after six months which my local dealership repeatedly fobbed off. Some I've fixed myself, some remain. A 5 year warranty is only as good as the dealer's ability to fix the faults. Be warned.

  6. Look I Love Bentley. But Genesis just Nailed it with the GV80. Sexier than ANY. Bold, Unique and Original. Sorry Girls, just fell in love;)

  7. Whats with the sarcastic and patronising tone?

  8. Lovely car.
But I have no idea how the law passes the size of the touch screen when it quite clearly has a blind spot on your windae.
    But lovely car. 🌵🌵

  9. Knocking it for not being a hybrid…what kind of ridiculous argument is this… First time watching your review and very disappointed.. First…and now last.

  10. A "thumbs down" for comfort? Literally EVERY other reviewer has mentioned the soft, supple ride (somewhere in the happy middle between BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE). Thumbs down to Carbuyer.

Just realised – so you pay £57k and get Pleatherette seats?? That’s ridiculous!

I love the references to ‘really good for a new car’ – it’s basically a big Hyundai with a made up badge on it – this is hardly a new ‘start up’ manufacturer!

  13. Reliability?

  14. No electrification whatsoever? SOLD. A real vehicle

  15. Korean car + China car

  16. Good looking unlike the Bentley

  17. As long as it’s not half an hour long with a 12 minute Phil Collins drum solo I’d happily drive a Genesis

  18. in all honesty, hyundai's new luxury division is killing it right now.

  19. Great video, Genesis should lower the front Reg plate to keep the grill clear

  20. I’ve seen this car in Westfield, I fell in love but said no due to no hybrid / electric. Real shame and five years too late!

Big ugly boat of a car. Profile like a barge; lugging coal on a canal. Too big just like those Audi, BMW, Alfa grill heavy alternatives. The size of the car makes the occupant look like they've escaped from Lilliput; a tiny person trying to look like a footballer/footballers wife. Like it's German rivals cars with these looks are best left to the discerning buyers of the UAE.

  22. My new vehicle yall. It's calling me. Has my name written all over it. I name it and claim it. It's done. Amen 🙏🏽

  23. Since you're from UK do you prefer the LR Discovery over this GV80? Has Land Rover gotten better on reliability?

    It’s mines

  25. Beautiful car

  26. It’s a pretty thing and it would be nice to have some electrification. Would rather have this and the cash than a Bentayga.

  27. IF YOUR RIDE AINT PERFECT. THEN THE CAR AINT WORTH IT.

  28. 57K, they wont sell many in the badge conscious UK

  30. Wish Genesis would come to Northern Ireland 😔

  31. Genesis doing nice product,so like Lexus did at first but are now weird looking cars….Hopefully Genesis will stay tasteful.

  32. Interior ok, exterior not so and designed by the band I guess

The center console is a copy of the last gen range rover. How could you not to see that.

  34. 🤣🤣🤣After 7 mins found out it's not an electric car

  35. Loved the review!

  36. Me personally, I wouldn't knock it for not being a hybrid. That just adds to the cost that not everyone might necessarily care for.

    Fix your damned roads, England!

  38. Great review style. Well done. The Genesis range of cars look great. I would have one over any so called luxury German brand. Reliability (being Hyundai owned) should be good too. My only worry for Genesis is brand awareness. No matter how good Genesis is, they have an up hill battle to convince the general public in the UK to walk away from Mercedes, BMW and Audi and buy their product. Despite the poor reliability record and sometimes bad customer service of the aforementioned brands, the UK public still blindly buy these brands. At the moment I would buy a Lexus over a Genesis purely because of their great reputation. So come Genesis convince us!
