The new Dacia Sandero Stepway is a high-riding crossover version of the regular Sandero hatchback, with improved technology and rugged looks. Every version has five seats, an array of safety features, and a range of economical petrol engines. But with a price tag starting from around £11,500, can it compete with more expensive rivals like the Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio or Skoda Fabia? Nicola Hume delivers the Carbuyer verdict.

  1. Dacia proves you don't need to spend a fortune on a car similar to a Dacia unless you want to be a badge snob.

  2. From what I heard I was expecting an unsophisticated, slow off the mark plodder. What I got was a great looking vehicle, enough technics to throw a stick at, comfortable ride and a nippy off the mark and good speeds throughout the gears. Only negative is the steering compared to my last car Honda Civic 69 reg. More than happy with it and I've saved £12000.

  3. I think if they had more powerful engines I would buy one..

  4. Grief! This presenter is irritating. Unwatchable.

    Lovely review, smart and funny!

  6. Good review. It's currently top of my list for a new car as I'm not a petrol head. I just need something affordable to get me to work and back, and the odd days out. Seems like great value, and for me a nice looking little car.

how many litres off gas take ,,and how many kilometers y can drive wht a full tank???

  8. I'm looking at this car – just off to visit my local LPG outlet to see how it all works.

  9. Great review, love your sense of humour too, lol.

  10. Looking to buy the Jogger with 7 seats, never had a Dacia before and I know Renault had issues too, are they actually reliable?

  11. Lol! While crossing the Channel, the car lost 1 cv… ? In LPG it is not 99cv it is 100cv!!

  12. Came for the car, stayed because she's easy on the eyes 😉

  13. I disagree that is value for money. It moves in the range of 16.000 – 18.000, which is a lot for a car that gives more to the outside look rather than the quality inside.

  14. my dream car is the dacia sandero. lol

my personality is like james may in many ways lol

  15. Wow, why is she so patronising?

  16. the bi-fuel is the one to go for, nowadays😐

  17. Over the next few years, if you can’t afford a new hybrid of electric car….this is the sort of car you will end up with….bigger more premium manufacturers will all be hybrid or electric…so not an option if you can’t afford them….and many won’t because of the cost of living crisis.

This is like the last days of video tape….all prem makes moved to hard disc pvr or dvd. Leaving only the cheap manufactures making video machines.

  18. I got this car with lpg or GPL and petrol. It's fricken great. Cheap to run. Loads of mod cons and compared to other cars on the road looks great. High ground clearance, I take it on rough track sometimes. Roof rack works. Took a roll of Astro turf home the other day. Been running for only three months so can't tell you about reliability yet, but so far so good. Touch wood.

  19. I love your voice

  20. GOOD NEWS!!!!

  21. Such boring colours and unless the latest stepway 2022 has some form of front screen demister I won't bother buying a new one. Bane of my life.

  22. There's a version that runs on LBG? Sure about that?

  23. GOOD NEWS, ITS THE DACIA SANDERO! 🙂 I wish they sold these in the USA.

67 plate 09 tce incredible car utter great in every aspect

  25. Just ordered a new Sandero Stepway, approximate delivery May 2022. Had my current Sandero Stepway from new for 7 years, 147,000 miles later and no problems at all had absolutely no hesitation in getting the newer Sandero Stepway Prestige model, in Highland Grey.

  26. Having seriouse think now as car prices have gone right up. stepway still affordable . Just considering versions as don't won't wait ages for new car.

  27. The Nissan dualis built in Romania

  28. I love cars like this (and I'm a petrolhead with a Lotus in the garage). I would definitely buy this for my wife who has zero interest in cars and just wants a runabout. She says she likes the styling (so do I actually), so that's a win. The money I save by getting her a low price runabout I can put towards something more special for me, hurrah! I'd get the top spec model though with the 100ps engine and LPG.

  29. Good review, but It is just a car, not a marriage partner, so what about scratchy plastics? (T Roc?), it is a box that gets Joe/Jane Soap from A to B, reasonably reliably. How often do you need to stroke/cuddle the plastics? How often do we need to exceed speed limits? How often are we thrashing down a B road having a lot of fun in a car in the 21st Century? We don't for 90% of the time. Don't worry about the base model, it is just a pricing strategy, remember a Fiesta Popular? No one buys them. The future awaits..

  30. Makes a lot of sense. New car inflation is ridiculous: many have doubled in the last 5 years. For a mid-range compact crossover you're looking at £30K+. Would be fine if wages had gone up as well.

  31. Excellent review and totally true. Not everybody cares about performance and quality. Sometimes it’s just about kids to school and the Tesco shop.

  32. Oh no…..electronic handbrake!!!

  33. 6:46 was so damn funny considering I've been driving a 45 hp machine. 😂😂

  34. This country has tens of billions of pounds worth of over designed, over engineered leather clad status symbols eating money and depreciating rapidly on front drives everywhere. (Mine included)! Vanity and stupidity rules the day. Having just spoken to friends who own a Stepway my next car is definitely a Sondero or possibly a Duster.

  35. Miss Bla Bla Bla 🙂

Did you really post that ? October 1, 2022 at 4:21 pm

Are you hoping the talent scout for Eastenders will spot you?. "Wiv"?. Oh and that is not 1:25 "bodycladding", rather they are stick on/removeable vinyl stickers, which if you'd been paying more attention to, given you were standing beside them, instead of auditioning for another programme, you would have seen. Other than that…good job.

  37. "The Lord knows we all need to cut back on our screen time" 😂 I love you!!!

  38. Any car that don’t break down is a gd car and the sandero is gd at that

  39. I'm an a to b girl, I don't use a car alot so didn't want to spend loads but I've ordered the stepway in orange, automatic, it was such a lovely drive, didn't notice the noise either.

  40. You get more wind noise because you had back window open. 6:20

  41. Great review, thanks! I've ordered mine a slate grey prestige bi-fuel version as I have a local LPG station. I have a previous gen Stepway and that's been a great car, it just reminded me of the 05 clio I had years ago just a bit much. The new one is very plush in comparison and feels very confident and capable on the road. Once it' is delivered, as unfortunately things are a bit up in the air about deliveries no matter which manufacture you go to. Looking forward to my new Stepway very much. 🙂

  42. Nicola, love your review. I am collecting one in April. I got rid of mondeo which was sooo thirsty (2l, 240bhp ecoboost, not really eco around town). I'm hoping to run Sandero much cheaper on lpg.

  43. what is the compaction ! and how do they compere on price i have hade 4 ore 5 possibly more over the years renault fuego 19 clio and all have gave me problem's over years expensive one s i dont will not get another

  44. I don't care about this car, I watch the video just for her!!

  45. A quick reminder for all the 1 liter engine haters. Formula one cars have an 1.6 engine and still can produce around 800hp. Its the advance in turbocharger and boost technology that makes a car produce more power and be more economical, not the engine size.

  46. Doesn’t look cheap at all, a basic fiesta looks cheaper.
