Audio Technica have released a limited edition of their Sound Burger record player in 2022. The AT-SB2022 has Bluetooth and recharges via USB-C. It’s also currently limited to 7000 units world wide and they’ve sold out. Here’s my review.

The PETSCII Robots soundtrack vinyl record can be purchased here: https://www.the8bitguy.com/product-category/music/
The digital version is here https://eoxstudios.bandcamp.com/album/attack-of-the-petscii-robots-the-alternate-soundtrack

The 7” record I played was supplied by Pawel – here’s his Bandcamp https://pavvvel.bandcamp.com/

CLARIFICATION Re SPEED ADJUSTMENT:
One pot adjusts the 45rpm speed and the other one adjusts the 33 1/3 speed.

Regularly asked question
Q) Why are there comments from days ago when this video has just gone live today?
A) Patrons https://www.patreon.com/techmoan usually have early access to videos. I’ll show the first version of a video on Patreon and often the feedback I get results in a video going through further revisions to improve it. e.g. Fix audio issues, clarify points, add extra footage or cut extraneous things out. The video that goes live on youtube is the final version. If you want to see the videos early too, you can sign up to Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/techmoan

You might like to review this. Looks like it has a soundburger in it. Randix HG-40P

  4. I noticed that cyclist @0.37 had slip on shoes with an athletics out fit. Also, he has knocky knees a bit like myself. The bike looks good though

  5. Lady, you sold me.

  6. Umm, burgers ………………… drip drip………

  7. Great stuff!

  8. Interesting to see you have a Bogen "magic arm" under the shelf to hold the camera. I have one that I use on my sail boat to do the same thing.

  9. AT Japan website shows:
    December 15, 2022 10 a.m. ~ Resale scheduled

    US site only shows 'sold.out."

Has anyone bought it in the store?

  12. Does it not have a way to change the volume? (14:58)

  13. So glad I saw something I can't buy. I hate companies

  14. Brilliant video, as always. I was in Italy in the late Eighties and I remember CDs and Discmen were the new things everyone wanted, so perhaps in a last-ditch attempt to make vinyl records and record players still seem appealing, every gadget store in Milan was full of new turntable models, most of which tried to be moire compact, more portable and look more modern than standard ones. Many of the models had spring-operated tonearms that didn't need gravity to stay in place on the groove. Those models were mounted upright or even upside-down in store windows in order to "sell" this gimmick. And I remember there were quite a few different takes on the SoundBurger concept, some of them also using a pair of spring-operated tonearms, which could therefore be carried around while playing both sides (they had a handle in the back), with the vinyl record dangerously hanging out while it played. I recall thinking later that it was as if they thought most people were about to get rid of their vinyl records anyway (to replace them with those wonderful CDs), so they might as well be careless with their LPs before they dumped them for good. I wonder what happened to those kinds of soundburgers? I did a bit of research and couldn't find anything similar to those online (apart from the Sony you mentioned).

  15. After seeing the video on the Coturn player, now this remake of the sound burger has since sprung up. I'm from Australia and was lucky to have one of these. I have a similar old school portable called Twin Singer. It has a cassette player as well, and it's made in Japan. With these new sound burgers, only about 200 to 300 arrived in the country, and at AUD $429. Cheers

  16. Wishlist!! Models are selling on ebay for around $900 to $1,200

  17. when you connect to bluetooth headphones, does it play stereo?

  18. I have just been on audio-technica's Japan website and it said that the Sound Burger is Scheduled to be resold from 10:00 on December 1, 2022. Does anyone know anything about this? I assume it only applies to Japan?

im 50 and id never heard of this thing. thanks for the light !

  20. in today using this in public look like the plumber will work

  21. Good vid. Nice they keep the same design and size but update the electronics.

  22. Any battery powered turntable is a good thing for anyone who frequents a record meet, or a pop up shop. I can't imagine AT doesn't make this a regular model.

  23. Idiotic scalpers already selling these at up to $600. This is a novelty turntable. Do I want one? Yes, but at retail.

  24. This product is a work of art

  25. 3:38 – This is a genuine moment of "F this video, I'm so excited to play with this thing!!"

  26. I'm weirdly proud that when this was announced on reddit, I left a comment saying "Place your bets on how long before we see a Techmoan video on this", and not only did it become the top upvoted comment on the post, it was literally less than one week before the video came out. Your enthusiasm is infectious… I need to get my dad to watch this channel!

  27. There's A good reason why I love Audio Techinca products!!!!! Great job on this video! Cheers !

  28. Noticed no comment on the Blutooth audio quality,😅

  29. Why make it limited edition? I would definitely buy one of these.

  30. It doesn't matter a great deal to me, but I do wonder if the line out is direct from an RIAA preamp or if it's just a DAC. Wouldn't be the first time in the modern era that an analogue source just pushed everything into a DSP regardless of eventual output.

7,000 units sounds like nothing. Already sold out and didn't even know it was for sale before it was gone lol

  32. Shoutout to the 8-Bit Guy and those Petscii robots!

  33. It sold out so quickly! I'm sorry I missed the boat. I wonder how many they actually made.

  34. I've got that test record..Jack de Manio….its hilarious..!

  35. the line in sounds great

  36. Bluetooth by the laws of physics will always sound worse and always have a delay over straight wires

  37. I’m not into vinyl but was thinking to, I just don’t have the space for a player so a small put away model like this with Bluetooth would have been perfect, plus I love the retro look. If these come out again I’d defiantly love to grab one.

  38. It wasn’t a classic, it was a hack toy – I had one as a student.

  39. Having no headphone jack definitely makes this a useless investment

  40. My man loves the big X for his Videos 😉

  41. Good finishing

  42. I always wanted a CD player in this style…

  43. It's cool but not for a record collection.

  44. It should have been the "SOUNDWICH", what a missed opportunity!

  45. now that is a phonograph I MIGHT actually buy. it's small enough not to be in the way if I'm not in the mood to use it, but if I happen across a nice old record, it'd at least sound good.

  46. Sony, are you seeing this? Re-release the PS-F9 Flamingo pls 😩
