New 2022 Hyundai Staria Review – Move over Kia Carnival! | 4K reviews

April 25, 2023

Today, we have the new 2022 Hyundai Staria for our review. Hyundai Staria is replacing the old Hyundai Strarex and now it is based on the new N3 platform, so I think we have a serious competition against the Kia Carnival. Well, compared to the 2022 Kia Carnival, the 2022 Hyundai Staria is about 12inches taller and has about 7inches longer wheelbase, so yes, in terms of space, Hyundai Staria is a much larger car. And the new 2022 Hyundai Staria is also powered by the same 2.2L diesel mated to 8 speed automatic and it is also packed with many driving aids and features. So, today, let’s find out which one is the ultimate people mover, the 2022 Hyundai Staria or 2022 Kia Carnival!

My dad says that the Hyundai Staria is the ugliest minivan from South Korea. Any concerns, Charlie?

  4. Such an ugly ass van

  5. Nah. the Staria looks way nicer and futuristic then the Kia Carnival.
but I'm Italian…what do we know of nice design…right…eheheh

  6. stretched Volvo 850 on back

  7. Really like it but not having physical buttons means I have to clean all the time.

  8. i would love one wif diesel engine!

  9. good review…nothing held back

  10. I feel the exterior will not age well – same for the Ioniq 5. Legroom is insane but trunk space is too small even with the r seats folded. Touch dash buttons are never a good thing – fancy but difficult to operate. Finally Hyundai got the transmission buttons more intuitive, still the N right between D and R makes no sense, N is almost never used. The dash should have D and R side by side and N at another location. P position is good though. Still, much better than their older 'star' configuration. Start button by the steering column is a bad location, not visible, car makers just seem to be stuck with the old ignition key location in mind. I wonder if they still make their steering column with that tiny piece of self melting rubber damper that requires the entire column to be dropped after a few years. Surprisingly no electric version is planned

  11. Would be perfect as an all electric van

  12. I'm so jealous. Sadly, it won't be sold in the USA market.

  13. I have the Kia carnival

  14. Blackpink must buy this

  15. Thought for sure it was an EV

  16. i think better than merc vito and cheap too

  17. OK. IT look ugly

  18. I have a 94 Toyota Previa and want one of these sooooo bad, too bad they're not available in the US. Guess ill have to import mine

This minivan really reminds me of the older GM “dust buster” minivans from the 1990s, such as the Chevrolet Lumina APV and Pontiac Trans Sport, but with a much more rounded exterior. While it’s unlikely that we will get the Staria in the United States, I can at least say it is a nice looking minivan.

  20. It will be interesting to see how Korean automakers will compete with the rise of the mighty Chinese. I see both Koreans and Chinese becoming industry leaders.

  21. I'm loving Hyundai's new 80s video game throwback design. Ioniq5 EV also has a similar design.
