Nadal: Star breaks records again – BBC News Review reviews

May 19, 2022

Rafael Nadal has won a record 21 Grand Slam singles titles to move ahead of his rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

In the final of the Australian Open, he played against Russian Daniil Medvedev. At times looked like Nadal was going to lose, but in the end, after more than 5 hours, he won.

Rob and Roy discuss this news story and teach you some related vocabulary so you can talk about it too.

Vocabulary:

comeback
winning after being in a losing position

* The chess player looked like she was going to lose, but won three rounds in an amazing comeback.
* The footballer’s comeback from injury wasn’t great as he was obviously still unfit.

Herculean
requiring great effort; epic

* The athlete made a Herculean effort to win the race.
* The rescue effort to save the family from the fire was Herculean.

GOAT
greatest of all time

* The player who scored three goals in the final will be forever known as GOAT.
* That new film is good – but I don’t agree when you called it the GOAT.

There is a virus that has killed and is killing many people for many years. That virus is called hunger and its vaccine is food!

But no one talks about it.

Because this virus does not kill the rich!

We must first eradicate poverty then we can call ourselves a developing nation!

This problem will gradually go away only if the problem of unemployment around is solved.
