  1. worst computer iv ever bought, slow as a turtle, ready to throw it out in trash, dont recommend this , it chokes on the simplest tasks with that silly beachball ,things wish i can show you videos,

  2. Microsoft welcomes Mac Users πŸ‘πŸ½

  3. The thought of relying on any Mac that is not user serviceable is terrifying.

Other than the 2019 Mac Pro what are my modern day Mac options for a system that is powerful but more importantly modular?

I’ve considered that perhaps I don’t need all the power of the Mac Pro 7,1. But what I do need is the modularity of it.

I work as a sound editor. Sometimes I assist and sometimes I edit.

My hours are not 9 to 5. I can sometimes be on call for an ADR session that is taking place in London or Paris or India.

Time differences and flexible work hours can sometimes push my β€œon the clock hours” into the late evening or early morning. Well after or before I could take my Mac into the mothership for repairs.

As it is I can quickly trouble shoot and fix my Mac Pro 5,1 in an emergency. It has happened before and it will happen again.

I currently have clones of my operating systems standing by in case of a sudden drive failure or any software weirdness that could otherwise disrupt my workflow.

I just swap out the drives and I’m back in business.

Is the GPU freaking out for some reason? I’ll just grab my old card and see where that takes me.

RAM somehow causing a problem? Maybe I can pull chips one by one and find the culprit and just get by with less RAM for the night/morning.

Worst case scenario is I limp along with a patched system until I can diagnose the software issues or get the necessary repairs or buy new parts. But I can keep working. Ya know… like a Pro.

That’s what it means to me to be a Pro. To use Pro gear. And Pro gear is modular.

It’s not all about how small or thin the device is. It’s actually not even about how powerful or energy efficient it is.

For me the true power of any Pro Computer is its flexibility on the fly.

The saying "Time is Money" is very true. No doubt. However… Down Time is also Money.

Along with the issue of not being modular the upgrade path is also somewhat limited.

I'd love to buy into the new Apple Silicon Mac hardware but you can't get what you need now and upgrade later with these systems.

To be safe I have to go all in or at least go well over what I think I need to feel future proof.

I need RAM more than I need Ultra power. But I can't get the RAM I need in the Max config so I have to spend $1200.00 to upgrade to the Ultra chip which I will most likely never need.

I've got my Mac Pro 5,1 set up so that I can do what I need to do… but i's sluggish. It suffers from a response delay that is short but noticeable.

I've broken down and bought a refurb Mac Studio Ultra 20/64 with 128 GB of Ram.

Its definitely solved the sluggishness issue and I do like being in Monterey but I can't stop thinking about the money I spent that I wont get any use out of.

I'll prob return this Mac Studio and suffer with my trusty old Mac Pro 5,1 until I see what the Apple Silicon Mac Pro will bring.

Hopefully it will be even more modular than the Mac Pro 7,1 while offering the power and energy efficiency of the M series chips.

I love how a stand to hold up the monitor is a perk these days πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Is anyone elsed having trouble with mouse and trackpad freezes?

  6. Hi, I use LG Monitor 27 Inch – Refresh Rate 75 Hz. HDMI connection. Can I connect this to Mac Study M1 Max? Will the speed vary if I use HDMI monitors?

  7. Has it got an Ethernet port for direct connection from the modem?

  8. It's amazing, where I live the faster machine is over $6000, but the waiting list is very long. Looks like the worldwide chip shortage is playing havoc with delivery

  9. One stupid downside. Can only connect ONE Thunderbolt monitor. Hooking up additional monitor requires using HDMI port. Why can you not hook up two Mac Studio Displays???

  10. Testing logic without speakers or headphones..?

  11. NICE AWES0ME KEEP_IT_UP! βœ¨πŸŽ‰βœ¨πŸŽ‰βœ¨πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽŽπŸŽπŸŽŽπŸŽπŸŽŽπŸŽπŸŽ—πŸŽ—πŸŽ—πŸŽ—πŸŽ—πŸŽ—πŸŽ—πŸŽ‘πŸŽ‘πŸŽ‘πŸŽ‘πŸŽ‘πŸŽ‘πŸŽ‘βœ¨πŸŽ†πŸŽ†πŸŽ†πŸŽ†πŸŽ†πŸŽ†πŸŽ€πŸŽ€πŸŽ€πŸŽ€

  12. Apple always put too little flash memory in their base model iPhones and Macs. I would recommend buying the base model of the Mac Studio but with 1 or 2 Tb instead of the default none upgradable 0.5 Tb of Flash memory. One additional advantage of buying a larger SSD that I discovered is that the larger Apple SSDs are faster.

  13. My order disappeared like my emails, passwords and abilities to respond to comments. If you ask the right questions corporations team up against you.

  14. The Macbook pro is an all in one system? The studio is meant to be connected to a separate display, separate mouse … Great reporting, keep up the groundbreaking work

  15. Your β€˜review’ sucks… you conveniently gloss over the deplorable camera quality on the display… or the fact that the stand is too low for most users, yet with no support for raising it (it is even visible in your vid that this screen is too low for you too) ….

  16. Does anyone else have issues with a high
pitched whistling noise coming out the back of the Max Studio? It's driving me crazy and I don't know what to do. It happens even when there's basically no programs running.

  17. 1500 dollars isn't reasonable, you can get a professional color graded 4k, 60hz monitor for 400 dollars

  18. It's just Apple's new way to get more money from creators. It's no more special than an iMac pro… The only things that are a benefit here to Apple is more ka ching and solving the right to repair or upgrade πŸ€—

  19. I don’t understand why the bazels has to be bigger on the Studio Display than on the 32” model. Why not make them similar?

  20. F*** why does no one do a review on how the studio display look when gaming

  21. You lost me with those rolled up sleeves. The whole time I was trying to listen to you, I was dodging and weaving your karate chopping sleeves.
