March 21, 2023

Here’s my review of the LEGO 10317 Land Rover Classic Defender 90.
Comes with a lot of features, customisation options and looks really good on display!
But at what cost…? Watch to find out.

Thank you LEGO for sending this for review.

  1. Expedition mode or Classic?

  2. Although this is not a model I like I hope they make more in these series and more with suspension

  3. Yeah none of the "issues" are a problem for me. I want all the extras and this is an amazing set

  4. The color is crap!

Such a cool build but helpful to hear about your frustrations

  6. Wow. The details on this are amazing.

  7. I’m

  8. Definitely a "get on sale" set, it costs twice as much as I paid for the porsche 911 or the mustang on sale.

  9. Saving my money for UCS Star Wars then

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas A. Edison

  11. I agree with you there- the expedition mode just looks bizarre. Honestly way too much going on. Wish it was just the classic mode!

  12. It'd be interesting if they could sell the Land Rover itself, and the Expedition accessories as an expansion to it. Just include instructions for the Sleek and Bulge models with the set, then pack the extras in a different box.

  13. the biggest issue with this is that the technic version is just infinitely better

  14. Classic – Im glad there is the option to do both as Lego has done will with alternative "modes" in the past with the Porsche and Mustang but there are just far too many leftover parts here for me to be comfortable with purchasing.

  15. that camera lens is working great.

  16. I want to work for lego and design sets, any tips on where to start?

  17. I love your videos, Tiago, but I think I will need to stop watching you.

I'm starting to realize that your bias against Technic and mechanical features makes your reviews very unhelpful for me.

I am going to watch try to find reviewers that match my tastes more, or else only watch your reviews for system sets without any mechanical linkages.

    Have a nice one!

  18. Lmao seeing the pieces fall off, I guess it has the same unreliable issue as the real Land Rover.

  19. Thanks for the review Tiago. Surprised about the annoying building experience. I will display it in the classic mode!

  20. Thanks for showing.

  21. For this kind of complex geometry, you may use cloth below the model when building it.

  22. I love creator cars than technic cars 😂

My only standing complaint if any is the price as the T2 (same size/functionality/piece count more or less) was $240 and Lego some how justifiably priced this at $330 which is absolutely insane. Appreciate the size comparisons in how it doesn't look either undersized or oversized next to the other vehicles. As for the build the technical side of it feels similar to that of the T2 as that was very involved and functional. Also I've never been in the habit of building on a surface as most sets/assemblies I find I built quicker and more securely in hand. Especially with a build this troublesome and Technic dependent.

  24. As much as i love the 911 as a car, while this model might not be an earlier LR Series, i like it more because it just looks better than the porsche.
It is expensive when compared to mustang or porsche, but i think it's unique color choice and all that expedition equipment makes it look like epxensive collectible model, and not typical lego set.
To be honest, my biggest fear with this set is lego releasing a better looking model of a car i love even more than classic land rovers 😅

  25. I thought Lego fell on their nose after Hulk Buster, Hogwarts Express, Wakanda Statue, and so on.

But no, it seems they want to press the default price of a Creator Expert Car above 200€.. fail!

In my opinion Lego sets get more boring, the more Big A modell becomes and the more piece they put in (there are exceptions).

So if there is a 2500 pieces 250€ model, I expect way more challange and suprises than from a 100€ model. But thats where the Creator Expert cars shined: 100-140€ fully packed of amazing technies and not such big builds.

I really dont know who at Lego thinks this is a good idea…. and the price is okayish for the piece count, but its not about that!

  26. You don't have the DB5 in this scale?

It’s an easy pass for me. Thank you Lego for saving me some money 😊
The review is to the point! Thanks a lot 👏

  28. Ddddddddddddddd

  29. Good video, but what triggers me are the misplaced piece in the front of the roofrack (look like little horns). You See the difference when it is placed next to the box.

  30. Very nice Design ! But 230 Euro is too much just for a stand around Modell. My Money can do better things for me, sorry LEGO ….

  31. As a fan of the defender, really cool set!
I definitely tell my friend about this set. He has a dark green 110 defender (longer version) and it is his favorite carbrand.

  32. I appreciate your honest reviews Tiago. I think I'm going to steer clear of this one. I dont like it's so unstable when building.

  33. No comparison with the older Defender which was a very fine set…..

  34. Awesome use of the probe camera!

  35. I can tell that the quality of the editing has improved👍You should do more videos like this!!!

  36. Great subject but It's engineering is simplified not like a older technical sets used to be eg: Now the size of subject is too small , engine, suspensions and drive train is not as sophisticated as older technical sets , this is marketed more towards kids and not adults who will notice these short comings . This seems to be the norm now with new releases .

  37. That probe camera was a great idea. That shot of the rear view mirror was very nice

  38. Lego should have a Lego credit card made from Lego.

  39. @2:52 just like the real life version of the land rover defender😅

  40. I didn't Sariel struggle with the build, are you sure you're not nitpicking?

  41. Wenn sie die Farbabweichungen bereits auf dem Karton mit abdrucken, herrlich! xD

  42. In my opinion the coolest in this stile so far

  43. You've got the forward angled supports for the roof rack on upside down. They shouldn't be aimed at the sky like that.

It's a shame that @lego gives away a set like this to someone who hates it and finds pushing plastic together challenging.

I want one, and then I want to modify it into a 130 🙂

  44. tiago, don't be so strict.. the result is fantastic and the complications mentioned during construction are not as bad as you make them out to be.

  45. I think I prefer the basic looking version without the roof rack etc. If it had been a 110 in Camel Trophy colours I think it would be better.
