Lanolin Undercoatings 5 Year Review & Career News… (Fluid Film, Woolwax, Surface Shield) 2022

Lanolin Undercoatings 5 Year Review (Fluid Film, Woolwax, Surface Shield) Both the trucks in this video were bought brand new 5 years ago and they have been treated with some sort of Lanolin undercoating every year. This video is going to take a look at the results that I’ve gotten. Overall the trucks have not changed much from the day they rolled off the showroom floor as far as rust is concerned.

  1. Edit 11/4/22 Going forward Surface shield will have a female top on the aerosol cans like the other products that are out in the market. This means the grafitti adapter is no longer required to attach the inner cavity tool to the aerosol can. As of now both the male and female cans are on store shelves. Just something to watch for.

  2. I see you have a ZR2. Does this blaster spray coating make mud harder to wash off after off roading? Im planning on spraying my Zr2 this week. I go to silver lake dunes during the summer wondering if ill having a grit from the sand sticking to the blaster coating.

  3. I'd love to have my truck coated with Surface Shield, but I'm just not able to do it myself! I hope Blaster will work to get a dealer network set up where people can take vehicles to be coated.

  4. Thumbs up for your honesty.

  5. Great video and nice job of calling out FF dealers with torch test. Do you recommend undercoating for a new SUV(BMW X3M) with full PPF on body panels? Will be driving it in NJ/NY in snow/salt winters. Plan to keep it for a long time. My concern is will the undercoating overspray end up on the PPF and get stuck. Also have protective film on the outside of windshield against rock chips.

  6. You’re just being honest fella and true to yourself. That’s the only person you need to be true to. Best of luck with your new career move. 👍🏼✌🏻🍷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇺🇸.

  7. Hi I had a quick question for my personal car. I was originally going to go with fluid film black because I do have minor/moderate rust on my car so I could hide all the rust and make it all black and look nice. Then I saw ur pb surface shield video and want to use that but since they only have a clear version I was wondering if I could put black fluid film on first then surface shield? Or would it wipe right off since fluid film is the base layer and could easily come off so the surface shield would come off too?

  8. I had to laugh when you put the torch to that Lanolin. If you have ever seen a fire at a wool store or a shearing shed where the lanolin gets into the timber I don't think you would do that. However it looks like the stuff to use and I have used it to protect machined surfaces, some very highly finished and never been disappointed. Different brand but basically the same ingredients.

  9. We use fluid film in aviation on every part to prevent corrosion and I love this stuff, like you said before it will become more viscous after it's been applied and left for a few days especially in the cold

  10. I was wondering if you have any idea how long the Surface Shield will stay good in the buckets. I don't think I need a gallon, but would hate to see it go bad in a couple years before I could use up the rest of it.
Also, has Blaster come up with a fix for the spray cans so that you can use a spray wand with them?

  11. 2nd question, did surface shield fix the issue with some sprays cans stopping half full as reported on Amazon and some other sites?

  12. any issues with door seals or rubber with any of these products over time?

  13. I had Nfab nerf bar steps rust through completely in 6 yrs. I really wish I would have sprayed the insides

  14. hey do you have the issue with the car collecting a ton of dirt and dust?

  15. What's your thoughts on the PFC-Protection First Class by Berkebile Oil and their Lanolin undercoating? Any difference in what you've used? I'm looking at that product but I'm really not sure.

  16. LIKE # 753 for INTEGRITY: about 25 years ago I started using Amsoil gear lube products in our touring bikes. We rode all around the country with tents/camp/hike gear. I then became a "Dealer" just to get the discount on their lube fluids, BUT I NEVER set up a sales point as a salesman. If somebody wanted to try it, I would order it for them with my next order, and we'd split the S&H, and I started using it in our cars and truck and lawn service stuff too. Today, we have a personal fleet of those cars and 2 trucks and about 30 bikes. NEVER an engine or trans failure in teh cars, trucks, bikes, or lawn service equipment. Yet, today there's still haters that just gotta hate Amsoil. Do I care? Not anymore, now it's more of an entertainment. Thanks for all your works!

  17. You are very smart to out your self. – I don't think you should stop the comparison on your personal channel

  18. I didn't know blaster was based in Ohio either. Can I go there and buy some directly from them vs ordering it online?

  19. Glad I stumbled onto your channel. I have a 2015 Tahoe and live in SE Ohio (Marietta area). I'm at right 190k mile's and need to coat my Tahoe in something. The factory wax like coating is worn off in a lot of spots. I'd like to touch it up and also spray stuff into the rockers and inner fenders etc.

  20. I'm sure results are also better when you start with an non rusted vehicle than if it was an older, already rusting one.

  21. Great video. A couple years ago you were 1 of the people that inspired me to do my undercoating as well. Absolutely love how you called out & proved (once again) that "shyte talkers" are just uneducated and/or hateful and useless specimens.
    Keep it real. 🇺🇸

  22. Never heard if this is in the rust belt. Pretty important info

  23. Thanks for the content Repair Geek. You're the only one on YouTube that has done this yearly update. Question though, does anyone know what would happen if you spray oil or lanolin on metal and then use rubberized coating on top of said oil coating?

  24. After you spray, do you just wipe down the wheels and done? Any areas i should avoid spraying?

  25. Just thinking. When the Fluid Film, Woolwax or Surface Shield is covering the differentials would that increase the running temperature?

  26. Any opinion on Krown ?

  27. Do you do this to your mustang? I want to on my car, but it’s low and covered in aerodynamic panels under it. Wish I had a lift! It doesn’t see winter but fluid film doesn’t hurt

20:50 Put a wick in that and you will have a lovely candle, its obviously flammable not that its necessarily a problem. Are we confused on the definition of flammable?

  29. I like the flammability test you did, keep the great work. I use both fluid film and blaster. I use fluid film on non-washed areas and blaster on washed areas. I confirmed also after a year that the blaster was still on my bolts around my wheel wells. Thanks for all of your reviews. God bless you and your family!!!!!!!

  30. Is this product available in Sweden now? I got failed in the inspection and have to do it again on my Toyota Avensis 2006.

  31. It looks like it works really good!

  32. I like the honesty here.. and I must say my surface shield spraying form last November still looks wet on the side and needs a little touch up here and there on front crossmembers..and few other spots and i plan on giving it a good catch- up spraying in a couple weeks. Wish I could go check out SEMA ! I agree with you about not believing everything and putting things to the test !

  33. Thank you looks awesome 👌

  34. Congrats on the new job. You and research and development team should open up shops in the midwest. Like a jiffy lube or tires plus. That would be a game changer. Who wouldn't love to have a shop who can under coat a vehicle with a good product.

  35. If your going to work for them. I know which product is better.

  36. Thanks for your transparency! Your videos are very informative. I now Fluid film spray my car myself (cannot find a dealer nearby) and I would be curious to test Blaster undercoating but don't sell it in Canada 😞

  37. I’ve been using both NHOU And fluid film. The only major difference I noticed between the two is NHOU creeps a lot further.

  38. What happens to electrical connections?? Rubber lines etc?

  39. Appreciate your honesty. Any treatment with lanolin based products to rust belt vehicles is going to help prolong the damage done by municipal ice treatment products.

  40. I live in the rust belt and I'm trying to make my 2021 tundra last 15 to 20 years. I've sprayed a heavy coat of fluid film every year and it's absolutely spotless! I'll keep it up every year.👍

  41. I really want to try the surface shield but its like x2 the price of fluid film. The fluid film comes off too easily in my opinion.

  42. I've got a 2014 ford f150 bought new and rust checked every year, no rust and I live in the rust and salt belt. It messy if you need to work on it but rather that than a rust bucket. Still looks and runs like new.

  43. I live in the rust belt eastern Canada 🇨🇦 PEI and this channel is amazing with true results/testing 👍
