Have you ever quit a job before? How did it go? โ€”Christine

โ€œtake this job and shove itโ€

  5. I quit too, a few years ago. A very well paying corporate job, but I HATED working for a boss and all I wanted was FREEDOM.
Though I DID quit, I NEVER took the leap and I always advise people not to leap but have a clear plan in place and transition.
So much better to KEEP money and not be in financial stress figuring out what to do next!

Love the fresh honest creative presentation of an old tale. Perspectives from a real manager and you. A mock resignation but it still gives you butterflies. It's like letting go of a part of yourself. You spent months job searching, submitted 100 resumes and endured 4 rounds of an interview marathon for this position. Now you want to walk away.

  9. Just listened to your request and followed you on LinkedIn haha! You are truly a rockstar, your videos are so refreshing. Thank you for creating this amazing content

Iโ€™m curious, about a situation, where the employee has reasons to quit (various: personal, philosophical, a structural ceiling preventing further growth, potential external opportunities), and how to gracefully leave. The current three year contract is coming to an end, there was a verbal expression of interest in staying about two months earlier to accept an extension, but a new contract has not been offered as yet, and no further communication/discussion from the company. At what point does the lack of communication, nor contract being put on the table, make a decided departure more the responsibility of the company?

  11. Any advice for people whose notice period is 2 – 3 months ? Itโ€™s a really awkward time.

  12. This video was great. Seeing how Christine put it in practice is really motivating. Also for the fact that a lot of tips were being mentioned throughout the video.

  13. Wow – I got nervous for you even in the simulated practice for a simulated quitting discussion! Thanks for the tips.

Hi Christine, you're amazing! how can we manage whit the directors that the employees are uncomfortable because they check every time when we arrive at the office when you leave it etc. I tried it but they don't accepted it and continue with that but each day it situation is worst ๐Ÿ™

  15. Nice video Christine! I had my conversation with my manager last Friday and submitted my resignation on Monday. All good for now.
Three weeks to work in the transition.
Much different sensation to my first two resignation experiences.

  16. I tried to do this method. Failed. Please post a lesson on how to quit a job that was chaotically toxic.

Thank you Christine. I've to start my career after college and I'm already getting good advices on how to quit

  19. Referring to the end of the video –> I'm a straightforward person that appreciates 2 way communication, but what if my bosses are the opposite? How do I get them to be honest with me more often?

  20. Did these steps not long ago and those were actually helpful. Thanks for summarize these in a really attractive and informative way. The key, in my opinion is to be honest (optional, of course, it's personal) and sincere with whatever you say or do in these kinda tough times. That would really help the quitting process. Good luck!

  21. Man I love your videos! Maybe a video on how to stop office gossip without being the office drip?

  22. I will tell you the best way to do it , just quit and have no regrets ๐Ÿ˜€

  23. This was so good! Informative and entertaining. Those 12 minutes flew by and I learned a lot.ย
    Thanks HBR.

  24. It's uncanny how I lately I've been planning my escape to freedom from a job I hate, then this video pops up lol! I have to say, as I was discussing with a coworker how dissatisfied we are, I realize I do "not mind" working there- the problem we both have is how the business is run. When you have a company that micromanages everything, from how to engage with clients the way they want you to (when you know it doesn't work) to what you should wear, and add to that a manager who plays favorites and gaslights you, it makes for an unecessarily stressful working environment.
Maybe that would be a good topic for a video- how to deal with being micromanaged. For now I'll stay until I find better work, or hopefully win the lotto. Thank you for a clear, informative video!

Don't do it. I did it 3 months ago and it's been hell since then. ๐Ÿ˜ข

  26. did u really quit?

  27. Wow I just resigned from my job yesterday. Perfect timing

  28. I never had a bad experience quitting…. Provide proper notice, reasoning for the change etc.
Everyone always said it's a loss for the company, but they congratulate me for the opportunity.
    (Disclaimer: I never quit because I didn't like a company/manager)

Also: You NEVER owe anything to a company or manager. You get paid for providing a service to the company, nothing more

  29. haha just resigned yesterday. This video was so relieving.

  30. It's odd how timely this video is.

  31. Great video and thanks for sharing. I would also recommend that you have all of your affairs wrapped up and ready to step immediately out of the office/manufacturing plant. Often times, employers will not handle this well and expect you to leave immediately so you don't damage the team, encourage others to quit or they just don't want to look at you anymore ๐Ÿ™‚ If that were to happen and you didn't have your personal reminders and contacts off of you laptop / phone, you will end up hurting yourself in the short term. Keep the great videos coming.

  32. Just say it: I'll have a much better boss.

  33. Perfect timing.

  34. Gonna quit as soon as I get a better opportunity. Hopefully gonna use this stuff real soon

  35. Really….
