Here’s How Leadership Skills Can Help You Parent Better 2022

June 20, 2022

People know that good leadership includes clarifying your values, talking to stakeholders, and sharing a vision. All of that also makes a great parent, and there’s no reason to leave it in the workplace, say Stewart Friedman and Alyssa Westring, co-authors of “Parents Who Lead”.

00:00 Nobody wants to see themselves as the parent that’s just nit-picking
00:30 Why are we good leaders at work, but forget it all at home?
01:05 We know what good leadership looks like: you ask, you listen.
01:26 Step 1 to better parenting: Figure out your own values and motives.
02:07 Step 2 to better parenting: Share those values with stakeholders (i.e., your kids).
03:06 Step 3 to better parenting: Ask you kids what they think, and what they need.
04:35 Your kids’ answers will undoubtedly surprise and enlighten you.
06:17 It might seem weird, but these work skills can lead to better relations at home.
